• Architect Series wood frames pulling at the corner joints. Pella’s Architect Series is popular in Pompano Beach custom homes, but the wood-clad frames expand and contract with our humidity swings. Hairline splits at the mitered corners let moisture into the frame, and once the wood starts to soften, the sash sags. We dismantle the corner, re-glue with a marine-grade adhesive rated for constant humidity, and re-clamp to factory alignment.
• Balanced double-hungs losing tension on the spring-loaded balances. On Pella 250 Series double-hungs, the coil balances weaken over time, especially in west-facing openings that bake in the afternoon sun. The window gets heavy, then it won’t stay up. We replace the balances in pairs, not singly, so the load stays even across the sash.
• Custom shape windows with failed glazing tape at the perimeter. Pella’s custom shapes (half-rounds, arches, trapezoids) are built to order, and the factory glazing tape doesn’t always survive a Pompano Beach install where the rough opening is off-square by even a quarter inch. We see water weep lines inside the frame channel. The fix is pulling the IGU, cleaning the channel, and re-bedding the glass with fresh glazing tape and a sealant that won’t cure brittle in salt air.

The Designer Series puts aluminum blinds inside the glass unit, and when the perimeter seal goes, you get fog between the panes with the blinds still in there. Pella won’t sell us the IGU without the blind assembly, so we factor that into the replacement cost and give you the number up front before ordering.
