PGT Energy-Efficient Windows in Pompano Beach: What to Know First

We service, restore, and replace PGT energy-efficient windows throughout Pompano Beach, and most jobs are completed in a single visit. A typical PGT window repair runs $180 to $620 depending on whether we’re replacing a failed insulated glass unit, rebuilding a worn balance, or re-sealing a frame. We’re an independent PGT service provider, not a manufacturer warranty center, which means we tell you straight whether a repair or a full replacement makes more sense for your money. If you own PGT windows and they’re fogged, drafty, or just not holding temperature like they used to, call us at (863) 591-8673 for a free estimate. This page covers what we see in Pompano Beach homes, what it costs, and how we fix it.

How PGT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

PGT builds a solid window. The frames hold up better than most in salt air, but every window line has its weak points, and in Pompano Beach we see the same handful of failures on repeat. Here’s what we find and what we do about it.

  • Failed seals on PGT WinGuard insulated glass units. WinGuard is PGT’s impact-rated line, and the laminated glass is heavy. Over ten or fifteen years, the sealant bond around the insulated glass unit can break down, especially on west-facing elevations that take full afternoon sun. You’ll see condensation between the panes or a milky haze that won’t wipe off. The fix is a new insulated glass unit, and we always check the frame pocket for corrosion before we set the new unit. If the frame isn’t prepped right, the new seal fails in three years.
  • Fogged glass on PGT SpectraGuard units. SpectraGuard is PGT’s vinyl line, and the spacer bar between panes is where these tend to go. Once the spacer’s desiccant saturates, moisture creeps into the airspace. The telltale sign in Pompano Beach is fogginess in the morning that clears by late afternoon. It’s not clearing because the problem went away; it’s the heat driving the moisture back out. We replace the glass pack, not the whole window, which saves you hundreds per opening.
  • Drafty sashes on older PGT 770 single-hung windows. The 770 line has been around for a long time, and the weatherstripping channels get brittle from UV exposure and salt accumulation. You’ll feel air moving along the meeting rail even when the sash is locked. We replace the weatherstripping, adjust the interlock, and in some cases replace the sash balances so the window closes square. A window that doesn’t close square will never seal, no matter how much weatherstripping you pile into it.
  • Fading floors and furniture from missing Low-E coating. Not every PGT window in Pompano Beach was ordered with Low-E. The original 700 series units were sometimes spec’d without it in older beachside builds. If your furniture is fading and the glass looks clear from the outside, you probably have standard clear glass. We can replace those sashes or glass packs with Low-E and argon-filled units that meet current ENERGY STAR requirements for Southern Florida. The difference in cooling costs is measurable, and the fade protection is immediate.
  • Hard-to-operate sliders on PGT aluminum frames. PGT’s older aluminum slider lines are tough frames, but the rollers underneath the sash wear flat over time, which drops the sash and breaks the seal at the meeting stiles. You’ll notice the door or window getting heavier to move, and in the heat of July, the aluminum will bind. We replace rollers, realign the track, and reset the sash so it closes with even pressure along the entire length.

Our PGT Energy-Efficient Windows Process

Here’s how a PGT job goes from first call to final walk-through.

  1. 1
Call and describe the symptom. You call (863) 591-8673 and a person answers. Tell us what you’re seeing: fog between panes, draft at the latch, condensation on the inside, whatever it is.
  2. 2
We measure and diagnose on site. A background-checked, uniformed technician comes out, measures every opening twice, and identifies the specific failure. We don’t guess over the phone.
  3. 3
We present options in writing. You get a side-by-side quote on paper: repair what you have versus replace with new PGT or another line we carry. Both price points, both warranty structures, no pressure.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM or quality aftermarket. If the job needs parts, we explain which ones should stay PGT OEM to protect your existing warranty and where a quality aftermarket part makes more sense for an older, out-of-warranty window. No mystery parts.
  5. 5
The work gets done, usually same visit. For most glass pack replacements, weatherstripping, and balance work, we complete the job before we clean up and leave.
  6. 6
Test and register. We test the operation, check the seal, and register both warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. You get the paperwork that day.

What PGT Energy-Efficient Windows Costs in Pompano Beach

Pricing depends on the window size, glass type, and whether we’re repairing or replacing. Here are realistic ranges based on what we see across Pompano Beach.

  • Insulated glass unit replacement (single window): $180 to $420 depending on size and glass package
  • Low-E argon glass pack for an older PGT window: $240 to $520 per opening
  • Full replacement window, PGT WinGuard impact with Low-E: $900 to $1,900 per window installed, depending on size and frame options
  • Sash balance and weatherstripping rebuild: $120 to $280 per window
  • Whole-house re-glaze (8-12 windows): $2,800 to $6,500, with an exact quote after we measure

The biggest price driver is glass type. Standard clear insulated glass is the cheapest. Low-E and argon add about 15 to 20 percent but pay back in cooling savings over a few Pompano Beach summers. Impact-rated glass costs more again, but if you’re in a coastal flood zone it’s often required by code. We give free written estimates with line-item pricing, and we honor them. Call (863) 591-8673 and we’ll come measure it.

Why Pompano Beach Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for PGT Work

We’ve been working on South Florida windows and doors since 2008, and Dale Kessler founded this company in 2008 with a rule that still hangs in the shop: if the pane is not true, the job is not done. We register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before we leave the driveway, and every job carries our Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right. No paperwork fight, no back-and-forth. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and they know PGT lines well enough to quote you options side by side against Andersen, Pella, and CGI, so you see exactly what you’re buying. If we think a different brand serves your opening better, we’ll tell you. We’d rather lose a sale than put a window in wrong.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★

"Sliding door had been dragging for years. They quoted a repair first, said the track was shot, then priced the replacement both ways on paper. No pressure either direction. Door glides with one finger now."

CCarol M.
★★★★

"Energy bill was the reason we called. They did not oversell - said the two worst walls of windows would do most of the work and we could stop there. Did those eight with the Low-E glass. August electric bill tells the story."

HHarold W.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★

"Two entry doors. Showed up when they said, second day was a half day like they said, and the painter they recommended confirmed the frames were dead plumb. The financing was explained in actual dollars, not a brochure."

JJanet R.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
